Project Summary

The project, designed by Diametric Engineers, involved the removal of the existing air handling unit (AHU) and the installation of a custom-built Daikin VRV AHU. The new system featured an EC plug fan, primary and secondary filtration, and a remote DX condenser.

One of the key challenges was the full disassembly and removal of the original AHU from within a confined plant room, along with the preparation and construction of new concrete plinths to ccommodate the new AHU and condenser.

Due to extended lead times on the Daikin equipment, Alpine brought forward critical preparatory works to maintain project momentum. These included the installation of new electrical power supplies, integration with the Building Management System (BMS), replacement of sensors, and pre-installation of refrigeration pipework—minimising installation time once the new AHU was craned into position.

The works were successfully completed in early 2025 with minimal disruption to hospital operations.
